Central Office (Switch) Maintenance Special Services/Design Services Installation and Maintenance Technician-- An individual that has highly qualified skill sets, to include an excellent working knowledge/understanding of repair for all types of mechanical/digital Central Office switching equipment and switch circuit installations and repair including Digital Loop Carrier, Next Generation Digital Loop Carrier, asynchronous, SONET and DWDM systems and special circuit/design services. This rate includes a highly qualified technician required to complete assigned tasks. Individual must possess a working knowledge of the cable color code and be able to readily identify assigned network components. Additionally, the technician must possess the skills to inspect, clean, and place fiber optic jumpers. This individual should be highly competent with the operation of test sets to complete work functions associated with the testing and repair of copper, fiber, transmission, LAN/WAN, ATM, Ethernet, Packet, and other special circuits and devices. This rate includes a highly qualified technician required to complete assigned tasks. The individual must be able to correctly read the Main Distribution Frames (MDF) to ensure copper, jumpers have been run, rearranged or removed correctly for a single line, xDSL. NOTE: Area dependent - this technician may be required to maintain/test/replace office batteries and associated Direct Current (DC) power equipment.

Job Requirements:
  • Install and configure desktop software
  • Troubleshoot all desktop installed software
  • Identify network problems involving desktop or laptop computers
  • Manage accurate inventory of desktop hardware
  • Configure desktop hardware and software for new and existing users
  • Resolve moderate end-user hardware/software problems including remote access software
  • Ensure desktop software license compliance
  • Resolve technical problems with desktop equipment and software
  • Maintain desktop software and hardware and also support mobile workforce
  • Perform installation, configuration and upgrades on desktop hardware and software
  • Install new hardware, software and upgrades on desktop computers, and laptops
  • Customize desktop applications to meet user
  • Build and configure desktop and laptop computers for new users
  • Maintain printers and related hardware/software
  • Work primarily with desktop, and laptop hardware and software
  • Perform onsite technical support to address desktop/laptop issues
  • Troubleshoot computer hardware and software problems
  • Provide expert level support of all desktop and network hardware and software applications
  • Resolve technical hardware and software issues
  • Resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software
