Kforce has a client searching for a Database Administration Manager to join their team in Allentown, Pennsylvania (PA). This is a direct-hire opportunity with a premier employer in the Lehigh Valley area. Essential Duties:
  • Assumes overall responsibility for all projects within team and/or site
  • Coordinates the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of projects, including the acquisition of hardware and software
  • Assigns I/S staff and coordinates these with those of departmental personnel in a matrix relationship to various projects and directs their activities for the project
  • Evaluates performance of staff and prepares reviews
  • Assumes responsibility for customer service within their team
  • Role will include managing three small teams of DBAs; the corporate DBA Team (MSSQL and Oracle), Cache Team (Epic) and Cogito Team (Epic Reporting)
  • The DBA Team consists of four (4) DBAs who provide Database Administration duties, supporting both our vendors and our IS Analysts
  • They install and upgrade our database management systems, provide performance analysis, tuning, and monitor for disk space growth and performance, investigate and apply database software patches, schedule database backups and reorganizations, and verify procedures for recovery of database systems

  • Work requires the level of knowledge normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor of Science degree or appropriate long term experience in Computer Science or related field
  • Eight to Ten (8-10) years progressive experience in Information Services, five to seven (5-7) years of experience supporting and/or managing large enterprise databases (i.e. Epic Cache, Microsoft SQL, Oracle). (3) years leadership experience
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Work requires understanding of the organization; customer service initiatives and the ability to educate and mentor staff in customer service
  • Work requires the ability solve complex problems with minimal direction, involving multiple hardware and software platforms
  • Work requires strong project management skills and experience with large project leadership
  • Work requires effective interpersonal, communication and leadership skills to promote growth as individuals, teams and as an organization
  • Work requires the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently to all levels of staff within the organization, in the written and oral form
  • Work requires knowledge of a wide range of hardware and software for mainframes, PC's and networks to manage technical experts in the respective sections
