The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) works to make the power grid smarter by developing and deploying innovative information technology solutions to meet New York s dynamic energy needs. The NYISO s Information Technology department invites applications for full-time internship opportunities.
The successful intern will participate in the development and implementation of a variety of projects including:
Reliability and Market TechnologiesThe intern will work with the software development teams to work with data about our code quality, application performance, and database performance, to produce dashboards, trend analysis, alerts, and other KPIs. This individual will produce a document showing the layout of the systems and mapping which pieces of data will be pulled from each one, utilize an iterative approach to design, develop, and present dashboards to the appropriate audience, and create documentation for each dashboard that will assist with maintenance and extension of functionality.
Web Integration TechnologiesThe intern will work with the Web Integrations Technologies team to develop APIs for existing software integrations for both internal and external consumption. This individual will analyze and learn the features and functions of assigned applications, research API best practices, partner with team members to design, develop, and test APIs, and participate in planning and developing an API Index.
Completion of Sophomore/Junior or Graduate level in Computer Science or Information Systems program, with the completion of courses related to Business Analytics and Statistics
Experience with programming languages like SQL, Java, or Python
Experience with data mining, data analytics, and data visualization
Exposure to data visualization tools like Tableau or Edge desired
Experience working with various types of data sources such as SQL databases or flat files, and understanding of how to use APIs to pull data from other systems preferred
