Job Role: WebSphere Administrator Location: Quincy, MA FULLTIME POSITION Responsibilities: Experience with administration tasks including building, installing, configuring, deploying and maintaining Middleware and applications on WebSphere platform, JBoss application server and Apache Experience with performance analysis of applications and interconnected components (Web Servers, Database, and Messaging) Experience with troubleshooting and resolving issues in Middleware environments Willingness and ability to provide rotational 24x7 on - call support Willingness and flexibility to cross train and support other technologies and tools as part of today s DevOps landscape Under general supervision, provides ongoing support of WebSphere Application Server. Assists in the installation, upgrade, testing and maintenance of WebSphere Application Server. Performs installation and deployment of security patches across the server environment while adhering to change control policies. Provides input to technical standards and procedures. Conducts problem resolution. Performs research and testing to determine cause and makes necessary corrections. Respond to client incidents and requests using the Service Now ticketing system. Respond to system alerts with little guidance and/or documentation. Identify and escalates challenging issues or requests to senior team members while taking the opportunity to learn. Monitor system logs for anomalies and resolve challenging issues with little and/or documentation. Contribute to the tuning of system configurations for redundancy, performance, security, and data protection. Respond to alerts and emergency calls during and outside of normal business hours. Act as a subject matter for one or more technologies or processes. Perform health checks on systems and monitor systems for proper operations. Perform systems upgrades, manage and remediate security vulnerabilities and threats. Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end. Monitor systems for optimal and appropriate usage of hosting infrastructure resources, including security, performance, and cost. Perform regularly scheduled maintenance, including the development and maintenance of appropriate scripts. Support information sharing and continuous improvement by mentoring or providing knowledge transfer to other IT staff. Ensure system specifications incorporate industry and/or vendor best practices and standards. Analyze, troubleshoot, resolve and report on infrastructure and system anomalies. Perform installation and configuration of systems/applications in various compute environments including development, test, staging and production. Provide recommendations for automation of appropriate phases of the build and test phases of the Software Development Lifecycle. Administration tasks including building, installing, configuring, deploying and maintaining Middleware and applications on WebSphere platform, JBoss application server and Apache Performance analysis of applications and interconnected components (Web Servers, Database, and Messaging) Troubleshooting and resolving issues in Middleware environments Ability to coordinate and manage multiple problems and projects with different teams at the same time Solves unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business Translates highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences Application stability reviews to catch potential application stability issues before they create outages in production Root cause analysis to quickly recover from service interruptions and prevent reoccurring problems Experience in Dynatrace tool Position Requirements: Knowledge of WebSphere Application Server administration. Knowledge of UNIX, Windows OS family. Knowledge of Java Knowledge of Tiered design for online applications Considerable experience working with J2EE Middleware or applications Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills Willingness to operate on a shift-work basis Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience. Certification in IBM WebSphere application server administration Ability to perform root cause analysis, problem solving, and troubleshooting Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communications with client staff, project consultants, private contractors, and employees. Experience with cloud and on premise web application hosting solutions. Experience with networking and related technologies/protocols/services/concepts, e.g., clustering, load-balancing, routing, failover, high availability, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, PKI, SSO, SSL. Ability to script in Bash, Python, and PowerShell. Experience with operating systems, e.g., AIX, UNIX, Linux, HP-UX, Solaris, and Windows. Experience with J2EE application servers, e.g., IBM WebSphere Application Server, Oracle/BEA WebLogic, JBoss, and Tomcat. Experience with Messaging/EAI middleware technologies, e.g., IBM WebSphere MB/MQ and JMS infrastructure. Experience with Portal servers, e.g., IBM WebSphere Portal Server.
