Robert Half Technology is partnering with a desirable company to find a Database Administrator who enjoys problem solving. If you are an efficient problem solver with highly tuned decision-making skills, this may be the position for you. The Database Administrator will be located in Allentown, Pennsylvania and is a short-term temporary-to-full-time opportunity. Key responsibilities - Establish the baseline for system performance and detect deviation, suggesting and executing improvements to slow running queries - Determine the best way to improve performance, whether through hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes - Fix database service outages when they happen, which can include after hours and weekends - Manage all database instances across development, staging, and production environments, handling installation, configuration, and maintenance - Provide guidance on database design, tuning options, and other possible issues - Verify that the design and execution of database server topology, configuration, and maintenance fulfill SLA goals - Minimize false alarms by appropriately configuring database monitoring utilities- Experience in production environments and willingness to be on-call - 4 years of database experience - Practical knowledge of storage and server hardware desired - Microsoft SQL Server experience - Experience building and maintaining documentation - Experience tuning queries to improve performance - Good understanding of relational database management systems - provided by Dice
