Power Systems Engineer needed for a long term contract opportunity with our client located in Audobon, PA, Accepting H1B, GC and EAD Modeling Engineer Contractor position provides support to those supporting the real-time EMS system model development and maintenance including tuning and maintenance of the State Estimator. The Engineer will participate in the coordination of the EMS database update and display building process to insure a coherent system model providing accurate modeling of real-time power system conditions in the Common Information Model (CIM) modeling tool. Other responsibilities include system database expansion for support of new and existing members, interfacing with Operations, Planning and Markets staff to incorporate requested application, display, and model changes, tuning of the State Estimator program. The engineer will also design, test and perform maintenance to the EMS Transmission Network Applications (TNA) suite of tools. Sometimes the contractor may be asked to create training materials for use by internal staff on processes and procedures related to the model update process and the support of TNA. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Define and Maintain Bulk Power Transmission model and Generator model in EMS Evaluate and Maintain model data accuracy in EMS Ensure accurate modeling for Automatic Generation Control (AGC) in EMS, and for markets systems Develop and ensure accurate display of Single Line diagram model and information in EMS Define, support and maintain Bulk Power Transmission Model and Generator Model for Operator Training Simulator (OTS) and support OTS translation and other needs as appropriate Design Unix scripts, Fortran programs and displays to enhance/automate the study system of EMS, including interaction with EMS vendors to complete implementation and testing Support the specification, design, testing and development of the EMS system to ensure that it meets changing functional requirements, including interaction with EMS vendors to complete implementation and testing Design Unix scripts, Fortran/C programs and displays to enhance the EMS system and provide a user friendly man machine interface Creation and maintenance of departmental process and procedure documentation to ensure compliance with Operating Agreement, manuals and all applicable NERC and FERC requirements. Assisting in addressing issues experienced from transferring model updates in IMM to TNA Create and run scripts for comparison of transmission model versions in TNA Evaluate and Maintain model data accuracy in EMS Supporting process used to transfer model update and parameter information from IMM to TNA Creation and maintenance of departmental process and procedure documentation in support of the model build process and support of IMM. SKILLS NEEDED: Bachelor s Degree with emphasis in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent work experience Demonstrated knowledge and experience with real-time Energy Management System databases. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with real-time Energy Management System display generation software and electric power system display characteristics Demonstrated knowledge and experience with real-time Energy Management System transmission network analysis functions including State Estimation, Security Analysis, and reactive transfer limit (P-V curve) analysis EMS and power system operations experience including specific responsibility for EMS network modeling and/or EMS Network Applications. Experience with the specification, design, testing, implementation, modification and support of modeling tools and/or network applications. Willingness to train in other real-time support areas. Excellent oral and written communication skills to facilitate customer support. Strong attention to detail High analytical and problem solving ability Experience in at least one of the following: SQL/ORACLE, SAS, VBA, JAVA diceES - provided by Dice
